Research has shown that vocations begin with invitation. Simply inviting a young woman to consider religious life is often the spark she needs to think more seriously about her vocation.
Serra International, the global lay apostolate for promoting vocations, has been inviting men and women to consider the priesthood and religious life for decades. The new Serra Invitation Coin is an aide for discernment, acting as a “sacramental,” a physical reminder of the grace of God’s call. While the coins can be given out by anyone, ideally they would be presented by the woman’s parish priest, or a sister, leading to deeper conversation.
The handsome, oversized coins have substantial heft in the hand, and act as an enduring token of the invitation to consider religious life. The face is engraved with a nicely-designed cross, while the back has an intricate crown of thorns and the words: “Have you considered religious life?”
Five coins come packaged in a glossy black box, with a card inside encouraging invitation.
