Description
The Augustine Way is a small-group program that helps participants break free of unhealthy sexual habits and find new freedom in Christ. Developed in a seminary setting, and now redesigned for widespread use, the program uses an innovative blend of spirituality and psychology to disrupt ingrained habits and help participants establish long-term patterns of chastity.
The foundation of The Augustine Way is a deeply Catholic anthropology that is both realistic about fallen human nature and idealistic about our call to holiness. Learn more at https://augway.org/
The workbook is a step-by-step guide to disrupting unhealthy habits and re-forming wholesome habits. It includes an anthology of careful-curated readings about sexuality, from both established Christian thinkers and well-respected psychologists, including:
• Primary author Dr. Sue Harvath
• Bishop Paul Loverde
• C.S. Lewis
• St. Augustine
• Kelly McGonigal
• Fr. Fadi Auro
• Christopher West
• Jeffrey Kluger
• Fr. Hans Urs von Balthasar
• Dr. Kevin Majeres
• Jessi Kary
• Bishop Thomas Olmstead
• Matt Fradd
• Fr. Eugene Hemrick
• Archbishop Robert Carlson
• Charles Duhigg
• Fr. Mark Kramer
• Deacon James Keating
While The Augustine Way includes selection from many authors, the genius of the program is the strategy for working through the exact nature of unchaste habits. There is a very clear process for recognizing and defeating cravings and temptations, laid out methodically in 12 Modules, typically covered in 12 group meetings.
Participants are expected to put pen to paper and actively work through various exercises. Each Module contains an opening prayer, a module teaching covering its main points, reading selections, group discussion, lectio divina, and various worksheets.
“I’ve witnessed first-hand the transformation in the lives of young men… The Augustine Way offers much more than abstinence training or sexual self-management. It offers spiritual and psychological exercises for exploring the gift and mystery of our sexuality and how it moves us into deeper relationships.” ~Fr. Paul Hoesing“In my work with young men in universities and seminaries over many years, I have not found any approach to growing in chastity that is more effective than The Augustine Way.”~Fr. Brett Brannen
Overall, The Augustine Way is a roadmap for understanding sexuality and striving for chastity, structured to lead participants on a clear path toward freedom. Learn more at https://augway.org/
